Sunday, my dh and I took a drive down along the river. This is one beauty we saw. A red-tailed hawk was perched on an old snag very close to the road. We couldn't believe how long he sat and posed for us while we took a few pictures. The red on the inside of his tail really showed up when he flew off.

Wow. I'm surprised to let you get so close. I love to see them fly in the sunlight with their beautiful tail highlighted.
